Social Distancing: Day 93, Photo No. 92: 6/15/2020, New York City: 34th St. Herald Square Station

This photo was taken during my first visit into Manhattan, after shelter in place orders began in mid-March. This was also my first trip via the subway. I ventured into the city to take an antibody test. The world, looked and felt a bit different.

March, April and May (In NYC 2020)

1.) Had COVID been called SARS-COVID (XYZ) I would have stocked up and had my a** sitting down somewhere, back in January of 2020.

2.) Before large outbreaks and mask mandates, I judged folks who work masks in public.

3.) Instead of social distancing, I went on a date on Friday, March 13th, 2020. The day everything flipped upside down. * I hugged my date, which was pretty risky!

4.) I didn’t take COVID seriously in the beginning; I thought it was a harsh flu, as everyone kept saying.

5.) I spent Earth Day inside.

6.) My stimulus check stimulated my savings account.

7.) Early on I spent more time learning Tik-Tok dances rather than searching for jobs. I thought I could easily return to my pre-pandemic position.

8.) I was afraid to go to the Laundromat. So, I didn’t wash my clothes for three months.

9.) I didn’t feel comfortable going outside on a daily basis until June.

10.) When everything closed, I thought the economy would just freeze. I didn’t realize that things would decline leading to furloughs and layoffs.

11.) I didn’t clap for essential workers at 7pm. I usually cooked dinner for myself at that time.

12.) Being home all day, I could hear when the mail arrived. Getting the mail was my favorite time of day.

Now and Then:

1.) Zoom meetings are sometimes difficult. It can be hard to get a word in!

2.) I am still afraid to cough or sneeze in public.

3.) I frequently repeat outfits.

Present Day (STL):

1.) Some days I’m lazy.

2.) At times I feel invincible, getting the virus still seems impossible.

3.) I feel guilty about leaving NYC.

4.) It’s hard to imagine working on a regular basis.

5.) I am now working. I spent 15 months unemployed.

6.) Sometimes, I like not working.

7.) I want to learn new Tik-Tok dances.

8.) I’m glad to be home with my family.
